Burden-Lila Felix

I am on a shifter kick lately it seems, but I absolutely must talk about this series that I found a while ago. Burden is A Bayou Bear Shifter Romance written by Lila Felix. Since I first bought it two years ago, I have read this book cover to cover maybe fifty times. The plot is simple, and does not deviate much from the standard shifter romance story. An Alpha wolf finds his sassy, strong mate who is trying to “find” who she is, and despite a few “bumps” and miscommunication along the way, their love blossoms into a sweet and innocent happily ever after with a cliffhanger left for secondary characters. There is nothing wrong with adopting this plot template, however many authors fall into the trap of making it too predictable and bland. Lila Felix creatively sidesteps this by developing wholesome and well-rounded characters who you will adore and by sticking to a strong storyline. It is for how well-written and comforting her story is why I return to it after a long and stressful day. After you read this book, everytime you reopen it, it will feel like coming home.

I would rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars simply because I wanted more details and content in the plot because the characters were so engaging. This book is most likely best suited for individuals in high school, but again as a College senior I am in love with this book. I look forward to reading more of Lila Felix’s work and reading the rest of the Bayou Bear Shifter Romance series. I also recommend following her on Instagram @authorlilafelix for new releases and her current reading!

Happy Reading,
